Faces of the Battle River Watershed

Welcome to the Voices of the Battle River

This is a pilot project of the Battle River Watershed Alliance. With the help of two students from the Augustana Faculty of the U of A, we decided to try to capture what it is that the watershed means to us. We chose the medium of a "PhotoVoice" project to capture people's perceptions of and connections to the Battler River Watershed. Each picture tells a story.

We will try to add pictures on a regular basis. While many of the pictures come from the staff of the Battle River Watershed Alliance, as the project continues we encourage other interested individuals to contact us with some of their own stories.

This project is designed to explore what it is that we value within the landscape of our own watershed, what it is that draws us in, and where we draw the line for tradeoffs between use and protection.

  2. A watershed is the area of land that drains all water that falls on it, as rain or snow, into a common water body, such as a river or lake. Because water flows throughout the watershed, the water is influenced by activities that happen anywhere in the watershed and everything that happens within a watershed is connected.
